Project Description

The Wescott Boulevard Project includes the widening of Wescott Boulevard and associated intersection improvements between Ballantine Drive and Patriot Boulevard to reduce traffic congestion, improve safety, and accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians.

Public Information Meeting

An informal, drop-in-style Public Information Meeting regarding the Wescott Boulevard improvement project was held on Thursday, October 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Forst Dorchester Elementary School. The meeting's purpose was to provide the public with information about the project scope, proposed design, project status, and anticipated schedule. There was no formal presentation at the meeting. The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback with project representatives through November 9, 2025.

Project Announcements

Notice is hereby given that Dorchester County will hold a public meeting on Thursday, October 9, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Fort Dorchester Elementary, 5201 Old Glory Lane, Summerville, SC 29485. The meeting will be a drop-in format, and no formal presentation will be given. The purpose of this meeting is to provide information about the project, share preliminary plans, and to solicit the public’s feedback.

NOTICE TO CITIZENS OF DORCHESTER COUNTY: Pursuant to the South Carolina Eminent Domain Procedure Act, Section 28-2-70(c), Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, as amended, notice is hereby given that entry by personnel of, or working under contract with, Dorchester County (County) will be made in the area of the road(s) described below for such purposes as topographic surveys, subsurface exploration, environmental related studies and for the gathering of any other data necessary for the planning, design, property acquisition and construction of a roadway improvement project. Surveys for the project will be conducted on the following road(s) as described: 

  • Wescott Boulevard between Vital Road and Patriot Boulevard, including up to 300 feet in either direction on all intersecting roadways 
  • Ballentine Drive up to 700 feet north of the intersection at Wescott Boulevard 
  • Patriot Boulevard from 750 feet south of the intersection at Wescott Boulevard to 300 feet north of the intersection 

The project involves road widening and intersection improvements, and improvements to bicycle and pedestrian accommodations. This project is made possible by the Dorchester County Transportation Sales Tax Program.
